Darko’s lineage is highly impressive. His father, Ibor vom Hünehgrab, placed V6 at the BSZS in Nuremberg in 2022, V12 in 2021, and has consistently achieved top placements in over 20 competitive shows across Europe, frequently ranking in the top three.

His grandfather, Spencer di Casa Massarelli, boasts an equally outstanding competitive record, including VA6 at BSZS 2021 and VA8 at BSZS 2019, along with numerous VA and V ratings from prestigious shows across Germany and Europe. Spencer was a dominant competitor, rarely finishing outside the top spot, exemplifying the breed standard both physically and mentally at the highest level.

Darko also carries the exceptional bloodline of Gayla vom Hünehgrab (his grandmother), an outstanding producer. She is the sister of Gary vom Hünehgrab, who had a significant influence on the modern-day German Shepherd as we know it. Gayla’s offspring are of exceptional quality, often dominating podium placements. Notably, her daughter, Simba vom Hünehgrab, was the top-ranked German Shepherd in Germany in 2022.

Darko himself may not have the best structure, but what makes him truly intriguing is his track record as a producer. Time and again, his offspring show improvements—often with better balance, stronger outlines, and more consistency than the sire himself.

That kind of production tells a deeper genetic story. It suggests that while Darko may not be the most correct example on his own, he carries and passes on valuable traits when paired thoughtfully. For a breeder, that matters. A dog doesn’t need to be perfect to be influential—he needs to be genetically honest and capable of producing forward. That reliability in what he produces is what captures my attention far more than any single structural critique of the dog himself.

Darko is owned by Roberto Caputi in Ecuador, one of the world’s most respected German Shepherd Dog judges. Roberto has officiated at more than 350 GSD shows worldwide, bringing an exceptional depth of experience and perspective to the dogs he owns and breeds. This says a lot that even Roberto sees a lot of intruiging aspects about Darko.
